What I've Been Listening To

It's usually Rock, Alternative or Chillstep songs for the most part, but I listen to pretty much anything! Some of the songs I've been listening to recently include:
Weezer - Say It Ain't So
Stereopony - Hitohira No Hanabira
Rise Against - Savior
Beethoven - Violin Sonata No. 9 - Kreutzer
Dragonforce - Heroes of Our Time
Pentatonix - Daft Punk

When it comes to musicians, Herman Li from Dragonforce has probably been the most impactful one to me as his creative and extremely talented guitar playing inspired me to start learning guitar myself.

What I Play

I have been playing guitar on and off since 2008 when I bought my first electric guitar, a black Fender Squire Stratocaster with a pearl jam pick-guard. I took lessons at George's Music for 2 years and was one of the two guitarists of Tredyffrin-Eastown Middle School's jazz band. After being a part of the school band I found the structure and organization wasn't for me or my style of guitar playing. Instead, I would spend my time as a member of guitar jam sessions with close friends and learned that an improvised, messier style of jazz and blues was what I enjoyed playing the most. Even though I own two electric guitars and two acoustic guitars now, I still mainly use my first electric Stratocaster. I just feel at home when playing the guitar.

I started break-dancing in late 2012

It all started when I saw my younger brother, my cousin and their friends break-dancing when I was passing by the track field. I was instantly intrigued. After connecting with them we found others who shared our interest in dance and soon I, along with David Jeong and James Kwak, co-founded Conestoga High School's Hip Hop Club.

Summer-Fall 2012

While the paperwork for the club is under way, we schedule meetings and practices at Wilson Farm Park.

Winter-Spring 2013

The club has been approved and we get to perform at the high school multi-cultural festival!

2 Years Later, Spring 2015

Over two years have passed and I still go back from time to time to visit the club. It has grown tremendously over such a short period of time (from around 12-15 to 40+ members!) and has steadily gained fame in Conestoga.

Video games rock, and I've sunk more of my hours into gaming that I'd like to admit. Alongside being a PC gaming regular, I also stream and record video of gameplay.

Currently I play:

League of Legends

Civilization V

My Noteworthy Games

The game I've spent the most hours on is undoubtedly Team Fortress 2. After TF2, I've probably played Pokemon Ruby/Crystal, Minecraft and Skyrim the most, as well as Halo Combat Evolved and Super Smash Bros. Melee.

My favorite games include Skyrim, Minecraft, Pokemon Crystal and Ruby, The Legend of Dragoon, and Sonic Adventure 2.

Of the various mediums I have

Hackathons attended so far: Google's Hack for Humanity (December 2014), PennApps (January 2015), and HackPSU (March 2015)

Hackathons are 24-48 hour events where hundreds, if not thousands, of engineers, programmers, designers and technicians come together to collaborate and to create something within the time limit! From world-changing programs to complex machine learning applications or even the next big hit video game, hackathons are a place for ideas to flourish and for like-minded individuals to meet. So far I've been to three hackathon events and have loved them all!

Google's Hack for Humanity

On December 12th-14th, 70 programmers and designers gathered at Google's headquarters in New York City, New York aspiring to find solutions to challenges both in society and abroad.

The challenge my team decided to tackle was that of information security and

PennApps Spring 2015

From January 14th-16th, over a thousand programmers convened at the University of Pennsylvania to participate in one of the largest hackathons to hit the east coast - PennApps.

A group photo with my team at PennApps! Although we worked on separate projects after our initial goal proved difficult, we provided each other physical and mental support and eventually each of us succeeded at learning something completely new to us by the end!

My Project: ZStream

ZStream was my Javascript and API learning experience where I tried to learn how to use Ziggeo, a video storage solutions website, to power a video capturing service with tags and sorting.
